Qantas Airlines will restart the flights between Sydney and international destinations, including New Delhi.

Qantas Airlines says it will restart services to international destinations including Singapore, Bangkok and Johannesburg as NSW prepares to reopen borders on 1 November.

The Australian airlines will launch a new service to New Delhi on 6 December. This will be the first time the airline has flown to the Indian city in almost a decade.

“Australians rolling up their sleeves means our planes and our people are getting back to work much earlier than we expected,” Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said at a press conference at Sydney Airport with prime minister Scott Morrison and NSW premier Dominic Perrottet on Friday morning.

Time to start packing. Flights between Sydney and Los Angeles and London are now taking off from 1 November. Someday is even closer. Who are you reuniting with?

“This is the best news we’ve had in almost two years, and it will make a massive difference to thousands of our people who finally get to fly again.”

The airlines had flights from Sydney to New York and London scheduled from 1 November. It will launch flights from Sydney to Fiji from 7 December (previously 19 December) to Johannesburg on 5 January (formerly March), Bangkok on 14 January (instead of March) and Jetstar flight to Phuket on 12 January (more than two months earlier).

Other destinations such as Japan, Canada and New Zealand will resume from December 18 or 19.

Well done Vic and Tas – both states have today hit the 70% fully vaccinated target and the NT has just hit 60%.

Across the country, we are at 70.83%. Thank you to every one of you who has rolled their sleeve up for their jab.

Let’s bring it home and hit 80% across the country.

Some foreign airlines are also getting ready for Australia to reopen its international border. Singapore Airlines has opened bookings for 17 weekly flights out of Sydney.

“In recent weeks, sales on international flights to and from Sydney have outstripped sales on domestic flights, which shows how important certainty is to people when making travel plans,” Mr Joyce said.
