The Melbourne Hindustani Classical Music Society (MHCMS) is thrilled to announce the 2025 Melbourne International Festival of Hindustani Classical Music, a two-day cultural extravaganza celebrating the exceptional contributions of female artists in Hindustani classical music. Scheduled for March 8–9, 2025, the festival will take place at the James Tatoulis Auditorium, Methodist Ladies College, Kew VIC.
This year’s festival features a stellar lineup of female maestros who have made an indelible mark on the world of Hindustani classical music:
- Shruti Sadolikar (Vocal): A leading exponent of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana, celebrated for her soulful renditions and profound scholarship.
- Indrani Mukherjee (Vocal): Renowned for her mellifluous voice and mastery over classical and semi-classical genres as a Rampur-Sahaswan gharana vocalist.
- Debopriya and Sushri Suchismita Chatterjee (Flute): A dynamic flute duo known for their innovative interpretations and seamless synchrony.
- Ragini Shankar (Violin): A virtuoso violinist continuing the legacy of the illustrious Shankar family with emotive and technically brilliant performances.
Accompanying these stars will be distinguished instrumentalists Ramdas Palsule (Tabla), Apurba Mukherjee (Tabla), and Vinay Mishra (Harmonium).
