As we celebrate the start of National Volunteer Week in NSW, nominations have opened for the 2022 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.

The awards are an annual program run by The Centre for Volunteering to recognise the outstanding work of volunteers in every corner of the state.

Nominations can be made across eight separate categories, with recipients recognised at one of 25 regional ceremonies, culminating in the announcement of the NSW Volunteer of the Year in December.

The Centre for Volunteering CEO Gemma Rygate said the awards were a way to thank, recognise and celebrate the efforts of the state’s four million volunteers.

“Over recent years, volunteers have stood tall in the face of drought, bushfires and COVID,” Ms Rygate said.

“And more recently, they again responded by helping their neighbours, friends and strangers during the devasting floods in northern NSW.”

“It’s National Volunteer Week and so there’s no better time to say thank you to people who give their time to make their communities stronger right across NSW.”

There are two types of nominations that can be submitted in 2022.

Nomination 1: Nomination for Recognition Only

This is the simplest way to acknowledge volunteers.  These volunteers will not be judged.  However, they will be invited to their regional ceremony where they will be presented with an identical certificate to nominees eligible for judging. This nomination consists of four parts only.

Nomination 2: Nomination for Judging

These nominees will be judged for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award in the appropriate category.  This nomination requires you to complete three questions about the nominees work in detail, all of which must be completed to be accepted by the Judging Committee.

Volunteers and Volunteer Leaders are not permitted to nominate themselves.

This nomination form can be saved at any point if you don’t have time to complete the form in one sitting or need further information to continue. Please click on the Save and Resume Later button at the bottom of each section and you will be emailed a link which can be used at a later date to continue your nomination (please note that The Centre for Volunteering is unable to view or access partially completed forms).

For detailed information for each part, please read the Information for Nominators document prior to starting your nomination.

All forms need to be submitted by Friday 17 June 2022 for consideration in the 2022 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.
