27-year-old Sidhardha Reddy from Hyderabad drowned at Port Elliot in Adelaide. He had recently moved to Adelaide for his first job.

Sidhardha Reddy, an Indian national who had just finished his studies, lost his life on Christmas day after he fell off rocks into the water and drowned.

Police and emergency services were called to Horseshoe Bay in Port Elliot at around 12.45 PM on Saturday, December 25, after reports that a man had fallen off the rocks into the water.

According to the South Australia Police, “the 27-year-old Prospect man was brought to shore by Surf Life Savers, but sadly he could not be revived.”

Reddy’s friends are raising funds for his funeral and to help the family back in India.

The fundraising appeal on GoFundMe states that Sidhardha finished his Master’s in mechanical engineering last year from Sydney.

According to the appeal, he moved to Adelaide in November this year “to pursue a job as a Plant Operator in a manufacturing company.”

“He was from a middle-class family from Hyderabad,” reads the appeal adding that his father works in a construction company, and his mother is a housewife.

“They had a dream for their son to graduate and succeed in life. But, unfortunately, he is no more. So we hope his family get the life he wished by our helping hands,” it reads.
