The department has published a list of 12 occupations that would be considered for nomination under this category.

The department says to be selected to apply for subclass 190 nomination in the digital sector; one must be working in one of the focus segments.

Migration expert Chaman Preet says this clarification has broadened the horizon for the applicants.

“The criteria announced earlier, was very specific and not many applicants were qualifying under the digital sector. The state has now specified segments which makes is much broader and easier for applicants to apply for ROIs,” said Chaman Preet, Melbourne-based Migration and Education Experts Director.

Additionally, Victoria has said that applicants who are not working in one of the segments above may still be selected if they use their skills in another target sector. For example, a software engineer working in medical research can be selected in this category.
