In a tragic incident in Canada’s Ontario province, a Punjabi-origin couple, Jagtar Singh Sidhu and Harbhajan Kaur, were brutally murdered, with their son questioning the motive behind a police visit just four days before the killings. The couple, in their 50s, was shot more than 20 times at their rental property along the Caledon-Brampton border on November 20. Their son, Gurdit Singh Sidhu, expressed his confusion and grief over the incident, highlighting the visit by a police officer from Peel Regional Police’s Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau days prior to the murder.

Gurdit Singh Sidhu, a Canadian citizen, wonders why the police, particularly from a jurisdiction different from their residence, showed up at their property and spoke to his parents. The police visit raises questions about whether the family was targeted and why they were not informed of any potential threat. The son is now seeking answers from the authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding the police interaction and the subsequent brutal killing.

The police visit occurred on November 16, and the couple was alone at home during the encounter. As neither of them spoke English, they sought the help of a friend to translate the conversation with the police officer. The son, who has quit his job to care for his injured sister, expressed concern over the lack of information provided by the police and emphasized the need for clarity on the incident.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a homicide investigation, suggesting the possibility of mistaken identity. They believe that multiple suspects were involved in the killing, and investigators are examining all aspects of the case, including whether the victims were intended targets or not. The son remains perplexed and devastated, grappling with the tragic loss of his parents and the unresolved questions surrounding the case.
