Harris Park hit and run: 26-year-old man arrested

A 26-year-old man was charged in the Harris Park hit-and-run case, leaving another man with serious leg injuries on Sunday night.

Paramatta police have arrested a 26-year-old Rose Hill-man who allegedly failed to stop after a crash in Sydney’s west on Sunday.

According to NSW Police, at about 9.20 pm on Sunday, 23 May 2021, a 39-year-old man had parked his car near the intersection of Marion and Wigram Streets, Harris Park, when he was allegedly hit by a red Mazda that failed to stop.

The man was treated by paramedics for severe leg fractures and taken to Westmead Hospital, where he remains stable.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command attended, assisted by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

“Following inquiries, a 26-year-old man was arrested after attending Parramatta Police Station about 12.15 pm on Monday,” said the police in a statement.

“He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), and Fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm,” reads the statement.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, 14 July 2021.
