PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, where he met with President Droupadi Murmu to tender his resignation and that of his cabinet, marked a poignant moment in Indian politics. Despite the Bharatiya Janata Party’s impressive performance in previous elections, securing 282 seats in 2014 and 303 in 2019, this time around, they fell short with 240 seats. However, with the backing of the 53 seats won by members of the party-led National Democratic Alliance, Mr. Modi is set to embark on a historic third term.
Mr. Narendra Modi’s electoral prowess was evident as he retained his Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, triumphing over the Congress’ Ajay Rai by less than 1.5 lakh votes, solidifying his status as a three-time MP from the revered temple town.
