Australia’s 17-man squad for the World Test Championship Final and the first two Ashes Tests has been announced, with Marcus Harris, Josh Inglis, and Mitchell Marsh making a comeback.
Mitchell Marsh has been included in the team for the first time in four years after showing promising performances in the white-ball formats against India and a first-class match against Tasmania. The rest of the squad comprises of the same core team that performed well in the past two years, with four specialist quicks and spinners Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy.
Lance Morris was unable to join the team due to a back injury, while Cameron Bancroft didn’t make the cut despite finishing as the leading run-scorer in the Marsh Sheffield Shield.
The squad will assemble in England in late May and will be trimmed down to 15 before the World Test Championship Final against India at The Oval starting 7 June 2023. The squad will then prepare for the first two Ashes Tests before selectors revise the group for the last three Ashes Tests.
