Hirsh Vardhan Singh, a 38-year-old Indian-American engineer, has recently declared his candidacy for the White House, making him the third individual of Indian descent to enter the competitive Republican primary race for the 2024 US Presidential election. Following in the footsteps of Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy, Singh aims to secure the Republican Party’s nomination to vie for the highest office in the United States.

In a 3-minute video shared on Twitter, Mr. Singh portrayed himself as a “lifelong Republican” and a staunch “America First” conservative. He highlighted his efforts in revitalising the conservative wing of the New Jersey Republican Party. His central message emphasised the need for robust leadership to address the changes witnessed in recent years and to restore the core values of America.

On Thursday, Hirsh Vardhan Singh officially filed his candidacy with the Federal Election Commission, as reported by The Hill newspaper on Friday. With the race already teeming with candidates vying for the nomination, Singh’s entrance adds further dynamism to the Republican primary race, as they all vie to become the party’s standard-bearer for the 2024 presidential election.

Before Hirsh Vardhan Singh’s entry, the Republican Party’s 2024 US Presidential race was already brimming with notable candidates. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, aged 51, and millionaire entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, aged 37, had both announced their bids for the top US post earlier this year.

However, the race’s standout figure remains former US President Donald Trump, who, despite facing legal challenges, maintains a strong lead in the race for the Republican Party’s nomination for the 2024 election.

The Republican Party’s national convention is scheduled to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15th to 18th, 2024. During this event, party members will formally choose their nominees to compete in the presidential race. As the convention approaches, the competition among the candidates is expected to intensify, shaping the direction of the party’s future and its quest to reclaim the White House.

Hirsh Vardhan Singh, in his bid for the US Presidency, has referred to himself as the “only pureblood candidate” due to his stance of not yielding to COVID vaccinations. The 38-year-old Indian-American engineer has a history of participating in Republican primaries but hasn’t secured the party’s nomination in previous attempts.

Mr. Singh’s past endeavours include running for governor of New Jersey in 2017 and 2021, a House seat in 2018, and a Senate seat in 2020, but he faced defeats in each instance during the nomination process. In his most recent attempt at the governorship, he positioned himself as a conservative alternative closely aligned with former President Trump, but he ultimately came third in the nomination race.

Despite his past setbacks, Singh is now among a group of long-shot candidates competing for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential race.

Among the other contenders in the race are former Cranston, Rhode Island, Mayor Steve Laffey, Michigan businessman Perry Johnson, and Texas pastor Ryan Binkley, as reported. As the competition unfolds, the Republican Party faces a diverse range of candidates vying for the nomination, each with its own unique platforms and visions for the country’s future.
