A US-based Indian allegedly shot at his wife and mother-in-law, killing the latter, before fleeing the scene at his in-laws’ place in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

Police has registered a case against Mandip Singh, who allegedly shot at his wife and mother in law on Sunday. Singh’s mother-in-law has died while his wife sustained severe injuries.

According to the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times, Mandip Singh had returned from the US after three years. He was visiting his in-laws’ place to meet his wife.

Around 6 am on Sunday, he took out a revolver and opened fire on his wife and her mother.

The mother died on the spot while the wife was taken to a hospital.

According to the Hindustan Times, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satvir Singh said police teams were conducting raids to catch Mandip.

A lookout circular had been issued against him to prevent him from fleeing abroad.
