Indian-origin, 34-year-old, Sukhdeep Singh lost control of the car while driving in Australia and died on the spot. Four other passengers, including his two children, were also hurt in the accident, according to reports.
On December 4, Sukhdeep Singh, his wife, their two children, and a friend were travelling in a car when the accident occurred in the western Melbourne suburb of Mt Cottrell.
The incident happened while Sukhdeep Singh, the family’s father and owner of a transport company with offices in Victoria, was out for a drive with his wife Gurpreet Sran, daughter Noor Sran, son Gurfateh, and friend Ranbeer Singh in their newly purchased Range Rover car. According to a news source, the family was out for a joyride with their friend Ranbeer Singh, who had just purchased a new vehicle.
Sukhdeep’s wife Gurpreet and their two children Noor and Gurfateh, who were also with him when the accident occurred, are still alive. According to the local police, Gurpreet and the kids had non-life-threatening injuries.
“It’s believed the vehicle with five occupants inside left Doherty’s Road just after 4 pm. The vehicle rolled several times and came to rest in a paddock near Sewells Road in Mount Cottrell,” according to a statement from Victoria police.
“A male passenger has been taken to hospital in critical condition. A female passenger and two children have also been transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” the statement read.
The precise cause of the collision is being looked into, according to the police. The Coroners Court of Victoria is also looking into this situation. Police asked anyone with information on the incident, dashcam footage, or witnesses to the accident to get in touch with them.
Friends of the family have set up a GoFundMe page to seek funds for the Sukhdeep family survivors. In addition to paying for his funeral, they want to use the $100,000 they raise to send his parents to Australia and help his wife and kids “survive without the mortgage stress and the never-ending bills.” Sukhdeep was his parents’ lone kid and the only working person in the household.
The fundraiser webpage says, “We still consider ourselves fortunate because his wife & children have survived this horrific crash & timely help from Ambulance Victoria has saved them but they are devastated, frightened & scared for their future because they have lost the pillar of their house & sole breadwinner too.”
It further says, “Sukh was full of happiness, a sense of humour & willing to extend his hand for others. In a blink of an eye, we’ve lost him which is hard to believe. He was the only child of his parents who lost everything yesterday, and we aim to bring them here to Australia to give him the farewell he deserves by having his parents beside him.”
“We want all community and friends to come forward and give with open hearts, so the young family can survive without the mortgage stress and the never-ending bills. We all know that life is not easy, but a small gesture of kind words and donation will help the young family,” it added.
