Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Australia stands with India as the country faces a far more aggressive second wave of COVID-19.

“Australia stands with our friends in India as it manages a difficult second COVID-19 wave. We know how strong and resilient the Indian nation is,” tweeted Mr Morrison, adding, “Narendra Modi and I will keep working in partnership on this global challenge.”

India has recorded the largest number of Coronavirus cases on a third consecutive day as cases touched a new peak of 346 thousand cases in a single day on Friday. A new record of 2,600 deaths, the highest in a single day, was also recorded

India has now reported 994k cases in just three days.

Friday was the fourth day in a row in which India reported more than 2,000 deaths in 24 hours.

This is not a curve or a wave. It's a rocket. A straight vertical line.

If this is a bad COVID variant causing this, it will be prudent for all countries to help India with vaccines and raw materials for vaccines.

India’s High Commission in Australia returned the gratitude to the Australian PM for his ‘words of solidarity with India’.

“Deeply appreciate your words of solidarity with India. Together we shall prevail,” HCI Canberra tweeted.

Australia has announced to cut 30 per cent of flights from India after the surge in the number of COVID cases in the country.
