The Australian state of Victoria will resume international flights early next month.
The state government has decided to accept 800 travellers weekly from 8 April 2021, when Melbourne has the international flights resumed.
Melbourne had not received any international flights since 14 February, when new cases of Covid-19 were registered at a hotel quarantine facility.
The state had to implement a five-day lockdown following new cases at the hotel near the airport.
Now the travellers will be undergoing a Covid-19 test four times upon arrival from their day of arrival to the final day of quarantine. Earlier, the travellers were tested twice.
“Investigating the safest, most effective model of quarantine is critical to ensuring we can bring people home safely while the vaccine is not only rolled out in Australia but globally as well,” said a government spokesperson.
NSW is accepting more than 3000 travellers a week, the most in Australia. Western Australia and Queensland are both taking more than 1000 travellers.
