Indian actor-director Farhan Akhtar pledged his troth to Indian-Australian Shibani Dandekar last week. Shibani grew up in Sydney and misses the Aussie life.

Singer and actor Shibani Dandekar spent most of her childhood in Australia before moving to New York and then to India to pursue her career in cinema.

41-year-old Shibani Dandekar was born in Pune to Marathi parents. Her family moved to Australia via South Africa. She is the elder sister of famous former MTV VJ and actor Anusha Dandekar. They have another sister who lives in India while their parents live in Sydney.

Shibani moved to New York and started her career in 2001 as a tv host with shows like Namaste America, V-Desi and Asian Variety Show.

She has been dating Farhan Akhtar since before 2018 when they posed as a couple for the first time at Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s reception in Mumbai.

The duo tied the knot in the presence of family and friends on 19 February in a simple ceremony in Khandala. They also had a court wedding on 21 February in Mumbai.

India Today reported that Farhan and Shibani didn’t have a Maharashtrian or a nikah ceremony.

A source close to the couple shared with IndiaToday.in, “Those who know Farhan and Shibani can vouch for the fact that they both have put their love for each other above their last names. It would have been a cliche for them to do a nikah and a Hindu wedding. But what they have planned instead is truly beautiful.”
