Indian man killed as car hits kangaroo in regional Queensland

An Indian man has died after the car he was travelling in hit a kangaroo on Monday morning near Saint George.

Indian man Raju Chikkati died on Monday morning while two other passengers were injured after their car hit a kangaroo in Saint George,

According to Queensland police, preliminary investigations indicate around 2.30 am, a car was travelling north on the Carnarvon Highway approximately 27km north of Saint George when it struck a kangaroo before hitting a tree.

They were travelling from Sydney to Queensland to help a friend.

Raj Chikkati, who was in his twenties, died at the scene. The male driver and another male passenger were transported to Saint George Hospital with minor injuries.

The kangaroo died at this scene, and investigations are continuing, said the police.
