In recent developments, Indian and Nepalese passport holders planning to transit via Istanbul Airport to certain South American countries are now required to obtain an ‘Electronic Airport Transit Visa’ (e-ATV) from the Turkish Embassy website by April 15, 2024. This new regulation, initiated by Turkish authorities, mandates compliance to ensure smoother transit and adherence to international aviation standards.

What You Need to Know

The Embassy of the Republic of Turkiye made a formal announcement, indicating that Indian and Nepalese passport holders traveling to Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela, transiting via Istanbul Airport, must acquire an e-ATV. This crucial requirement is set to streamline transit procedures and ensure seamless travel experiences for passengers.

How to Obtain the e-ATV

Indian and Nepalese passport holders subject to this regulation can easily obtain the e-ATV through the designated website “evisa.gov.tr” starting from April 15. It’s noteworthy that this service is provided free of charge, aligning with current practices and facilitating accessibility for travelers.

Essential Guidelines for Indian and Nepalese Passport Holders

Passengers affected by this regulation are strongly advised to acquire their e-ATVs well in advance and ensure they carry the print-out during their travel. It’s imperative to adhere to the outlined guidelines to prevent any inconvenience during transit.

Compliance and Verification Process

To comply with international aviation regulations, Indian and Nepalese passengers are required to present the print-out of their e-ATVs. Airlines and service providers will verify these documents at departure airports, while Turkish authorities will conduct checks at the visa points in the transit passenger arrival area at Istanbul Airport.

Objectives of the Requirement

The implementation of this requirement serves multiple purposes. Primarily, it aims to facilitate smoother transit procedures, reducing potential delays and ensuring a seamless travel experience. Additionally, it reinforces adherence to international aviation standards, enhancing overall aviation security and efficiency.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the new requirement for Indian and Nepalese passport holders transiting via Istanbul Airport to certain South American countries underscores the importance of staying informed and compliant with evolving travel regulations. By obtaining the e-ATV and following the outlined guidelines, travelers can ensure hassle-free transit and enjoy a smooth journey to their desired destinations.
