Foreign students, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) can also apply for the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2023, according to University Grants Commission (UGC) chairperson Prof M Jagadesh Kumar on Friday.
According to media sources, Prof Kumar said, “Foreign candidates, NRI, OCI candidates can also apply for CUET (UG) – 2023, and they can also appear in any of the 24 cities outside India,” Candidates must select either Indian, OCI, NRI, or foreign nationality in the online application form, as per him.
Nonetheless, all international, NRI, and OCI candidates are recommended to check the University, Institution, or Organisation’s website.
According to a public announcement issued on February 9, the National Testing Agency has begun the process of soliciting online application forms for CUET-UG 2023.
“The seats for foreign nationals in UG and PG programmes is 25 per cent supernumerary seats. For PhD, each faculty member may accept two additional students above the UGC limit,” he explained.
The UGC has also informed all universities, via the “Guidelines for Admission and Supernumerary Seats of International Students in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes in Higher Educational Institutions in India” dated September 30, 2022, that Higher Educational Institutions may use a transparent admission process when admitting international students.
Admission policies for international applicants, NRIs, and OCIs may differ amongst universities and other institutions. “These candidates are required to check the websites of the particular University/ Institution/ Organisation for policies regarding quota, category, relaxation, reservations, qualification, subject combinations, and preferences,” Kumar stated.
The exam is being administered for admission to undergraduate programmes at Central Universities within the Union Education Ministry, as well as participating universities, institutions, organisations, and autonomous colleges under the ministry and UGC.

In PhD programmes, two additional international students are assigned to each faculty member.
CUET UG was held in 13 foreign centres last year. The National Testing Agency has expanded the number of overseas testing centres to 24 this time.
This year, a national-level entrance exam will be held in 547 cities across India. Admissions to all UG courses at the University of Delhi (DU) will be based on CUET UG scores, with the exception of admissions to the School of Open Learning (SOL), NonCollegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB) (NCWEB). Foreign nationals, on the other hand, will be exempt from this rule.
Australia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Canada, Singapore, South Africa, Vietnam, Nigeria, Hong Kong, and Brazil are among the countries with overseas centres.
