Update: 16-year-old Mateisha Chandra and her 15-year-old brother Keirat Chandra have been traced.

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a boy and a girl missing from Sydney’s west.

Mateisha and Keirat Chandra, were last seen at a home on Amos Street, Westmead about 6pm Friday.

NSW Police says officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were alerted after they failed to return home later that evening and an investigation into their whereabouts has commenced.

“Police and family hold concerns for both children’s welfare due to their disappearance being out of character, as well as their age,” reads the statement.

“Mateisha is described as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, about 157cm tall and of a thin build, has black hair, and was last seen wearing a blue coloured track suit jacket and dark blue pants.”

“Keirat is described as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, about 183cm tall and of a medium build, has black hair, and was last seen wearing a black puma jacket a shorts.”

Police urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of either child to contact Burwood Police Station on (02) 9745 8499 or Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
